On May 17th, the 4K restoration of The Horse Thief restored by our archive was unveiled at the "Cannes Classic". It is the first time ofourin-house restored film to be included inthis showcase. The restoration is scanned in 4K from the negatives and the team recreated the soundtrack, which is of Tibetan-language and just retrieved from France, into 5.1 channels. Director Tian Zhuangzhuang, cinematographer Hou Yong, Zuo Heng representing China Film Archive and Xie Meng representing Red Radiance went onto the stage of the premiere to share behind-scenes with the audience.
