Synopsis

After the "September 18th" Incident, poet Xin Baihua and university student Liang Zhifu fled to Shanghai. Mrs. Shi, a beautiful and wealthy woman, showed a fondness for Baihua. When Liang Zhifu was arrested, Baihua hid in Mrs. Shi's house and the two moved to Qingdao. With the North China situation escalating, Liang Zhifu bravely went north to join the fight against the enemy, sacrificing himself. Baihua followed suit, leaving his comfort behind and going to the front line. The interlude "The March of the Volunteers" reflects the general background of the struggle for national liberation, singing out the voice of the times with its revolutionary enthusiasm. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was made to be the national anthem.
