The start ceremony and press conference of NAAC was held during the 13th Changchun International Film Festival on October 15th, 2016.

NAAC, which is initiated by China Film Archive (aka CFA) who has associated many film distributors and cinema lines, will set specialized theaters around the country to show various films of all genres, styles, nations and cultures apart from blockbusters in commercial cinemas to enrich choices for the audience.

Commissioned by State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, CFA has had a thorough investigation on the establishment of domestic art film cinema line and eventually implemented the start of NAAC.

The first 100 partner theaters located in 31 provinces around the country have joined in NAAC guaranteeing at least 3 screenings daily and 10 prime time screenings weekly for art films. NAAC will still call for 400 more partner theaters all over the nation to expand show spaces for more colorful films.

The Declaration asserts that the League will contribute to developing diversification of Chinese film market, providing strong support to the art film market, building solid foundation for the healthy development of Chinese art films. In two weeks, NAAC will release the first batch of film programs, cinemas and ticketing system.

On the press conference, the six sponsors announced the Joint Declaration of NAAC.
